Silverdale always seeks reliable people who wish to persue a career in the caring profession. Experience is preferred but not essential. Full training is provided. Your assignments will include tasks to assist either the elderly or adult disabled clients in their own homes. A Care Assistant undertakes tasks that would normally be provided by members of the family and does not include tasks which would normally be undertaken by a trained nurse. You will perform tasks of personal care which might include washing and bathing, dressing, assisting with toilet needs, assisting in and out of bed as well as the administration of medicines under the guidance of a nurse or a member of a primary health team. After suitable training you will undertake the transfer of clients.
You will perform domestic care tasks which are concerned with the cleaning and assistance of daily living, including cleaning and emptying of commodes, washing soiled bedclothes, vacuum cleaning, washing floors, polishing furniture, cleaning baths, sinks, toilets, removing cobwebs, shopping and pension collection, laundering sheets, towels, personal clothing, ironing, preparing and cooking food.
You should have a tolerant, patient attitude, combined with a deep interest in caring for people. You will need to have the capability to work under your own initiative combined with an enquiring mind – not afraid to ask questions.
